SEO, Your Website & The Local Market

you may have heard of SEO, or Search Engine Optimisation, the configering of a webite so that Google and other search engines can correctly and most efficiently list your website.  SEO took the Internet by storm a few years ago and has been an ever-evolving beast since.  As part of the dynamic growth of SEO we have begun to see off-shoots, into more defined niche areas.  2 such areas which are exploding are Social Network Optimisation and Local Marketing Optimisation.

The growth of these 2 optimisation methods has been helped by some major changes by internet Giants Google and Facebook. 

Google recently changed their search system so any searches which look like product or services are shown with your geographical location in mind.  This amazing new system is aptly called "Google Places", and has become the #1 place to have your site listed.  In fact, trends show that people are going to Google BEFORE the Yellow Pages to find local businesses.

Similarly, Facebook have made some amazing changes of their own with the highly optimised Facebook Pages system and the amazing target social network marketing system they have.  Businesses can now find new clients and customers on Facebook just as well as they can using old-school methods.

Simply put, if you have a business, you MUST have a site that is optimised to both the social networks and also locally targeted marketing.
